03 May 10 This Magician Certainly Had Help From The Shadowy Side

Last week I was sitting in the lawn chair in my backyard, when something altogether amazing happened. This guy came by, floating in his hot air balloon, and asked me if I wanted to go and see a magic show. I didn't have any plans, and there wasn't anything particularly good on TV, so I figured, what the heck. He picked me up, and dropped me off in front of a bakery. Yes, a bakery.

This guy was doing some of the most incredible magic I've ever seen. When I walked in he was doing these wicked card tricks. He'd ask somebody to pick a card, and then have them show their friends, like normal. Only he'd have them put the card back in the deck, but then the card would show up in their sock or their wallet or something.

Then he switched into the psychic part of his routine, and this is where I could hear my brain sizzling. He would stare at somebody, read their mind, and then stare at somebody else, and download the first person's information into the second person. Then the second person, who didn't know the first person, would start telling everybody secrets about the first person that even their best friends didn't know.

After that he did more normal tricks, like making things vanish and not come back, he made a few people float up in the air, and he made this puppy dance around and sing the theme from "The Love Boat." Actually when I think about it, the whole affair was quite out of the ordinary. I'm not sure if I know what really happened.

I decided to get out of there before he did something that permanently affected my grip on reality. But just as I was leaving, I heard him shouting at me with a desperation that seemed to be coming to a shocking climax.
